Emancipation Day commemorates the abolition of slavery. Though this revered day is celebrated throughout the island, it is traditional for many Barbadians to meet at the Statue of Bussa for parades, speeches and performances. Other celebrations include the Emancipation Day Walk, Beach Fest, and Village Fest.
