Revered as the “shipwreck capital” of the Caribbean, Barbados provides any number of unique diving and snorkeling diversions, including many accessible sunken ships, beautiful coral arrangements and an abundance of marine life.
The Folkestone Marine Park has established two designated snorkeling areas on the island’s west coast, while Carlisle Bay Marine Park offers the best snorkeling opportunities along the south shore.
For divers, the waters around Barbados are easily accessible and not particularly technical. Also the island’s excellent dive facilities include a decompression chamber stationed near Bridgetown, plus ten well-equipped dive centers located along the west and south coasts.
Visitors to the island can also explore the underwater depths in a submarine expedition or try “Snuba”– a sport that combines elements of both snorkeling and diving.
