Offering the highest standard of care in the Eastern Caribbean, Barbados is home to a number of government run health care facilities and private medical centers that are supported by well qualified doctors and nurses who have been trained at leading institutions around the world.
The Queen Elizabeth Hospital is a 600-bed government operated general practice facility that also specializes in such areas as gynecology, pediatrics, obstetrics, plastic surgery, radiology, radiography and psychotherapy.
Moreover, the Barbados government oversees eight Polyclinics; five Geriatric Hospitals; a network of Child Care facilities; and a National Nutrition Centre.
The privately owned Bayview Hospital is another outstanding medical facility that offers general, specialised and elective care.
Pharmacies are located in most places and may be able to refill prescriptions for visitors if needed.
