Road tennis is a popular Bajan game.First-time visitors to Barbados will find that the island is sprinkled with courts for squash, badminton, table tennis, lawn tennis and road tennis. The most unusual sport to foreign eyes is road tennis, a variation of table tennis believed to have originated in Barbados. In the more remote areas, road tennis courts can still be found in the middle of the street.

Regional competitions for all of the racket sports are hotly contested. High profile players to visit the island have included John Lloyd, Roscoe Tanner and Peter Fleming. The hottest event of the tennis season is the annual First Caribbean Junior International Tournament in the spring which attracts players from all over the world.

Tennis competitions are centred around the courts of Wildey on the south-western edge of the island. Coaching is also available at several locations. One of the most popular coaches of the modern sport is Luis ‘Big Lou’ Fuentes at Rockley Resort.
