The Mount Gay Rum/Boatyard Regatta of early June is one of the best sailing festivals of a busy Caribbean calendar. The sailing festival is a popular event and attracts sailors from all over the Caribbean, as well as many from a good deal farther away.

Promoted as the fun event of the sailing season, this Barbadian festival promises good competition, high action, and hard partying. Our people love to spoil visitors and the nighttime activity options surely leave guests spoiled for choice. The serious sailor must ensure that an evening spent with good friends and rum punches doesn't leave him wishing for dry land the next day!

The spirit of the sailing regatta! The Mount Gay Rum/Boatyard Regatta has been a part of the sailing world in Barbados for eighteen years. The well-known red hats are a prized souvenir and the sponsorship of Mount Gay Rum and the Boatyard have added a distinctive character to the festival. As an internationally recognized brand, Mount Gay Rum has raised the profile of the regatta. The Boatyard has added its own flair as well. The popular bar is the centre of the nightlife for sailing enthusiasts, situated as it is a short 500 metres from the Yacht Club's doors!

The action begins on Thursday with registration, briefing and a rowdy barbeque at the Yacht Club. The racing begins on Friday morning. At the end of every day is an awards presentation, with the biggest affair landing on Sunday evening. The carnival atmosphere is a big draw for everyone on the island and the final night's festivities never seem to end!
The regatta is a fabulous spectator sport.
