The sporting spirit of the Special Olympics strongly resonates with Bajan sports enthusiasts and has created a following on the island. “Let me win, but if I cannot win, let me be brave in the attempt” runs the motto of the Games. Barbados participated in the recent World Games in Ireland and brought 21 medals home. In regional competitions, the island claimed 35 medals. It seems that our competitors like to win!

One of the top homegrown heroes is athlete Daniel Colthurst. Daniel is a well-known cyclist who has competed and inspired thousands of others in his fundraising and promotional tours of the Caribbean and North America.
