Reggae Lounge

Christ Church, Barbados

"Stella got her groove back" with the help of the "cheap drinks, good happy hours and plenty of reggae" on offer at this open-air dance deck in St. Lawrence Gap or so say the wild "young kids" who "pack" it every night; however, buttoned-up types who've "fled" the "unappealing" scene "after 15 minutes" warn "ladies, beware of the men."

"Great drinks, great music, great location" yes, everything's just "great" at this "vibrant", "popular hangout" in a two-storey residence in Christ Church; the "cool buzz" extends to "friendly staff" that dole out pub grub and cold brewskis to a heavily "thirtysomething crowd."

McBride's Pub & Cookhouse
St. Lawrence Gap
Christ Church, Barbados
435-6352
191618M
"After dinner", this Christ Church grub purveyor "has a true pub feel", as folks "frolic" to the tune of "great live music" (weekly theme nights include Latin and reggae), karaoke and DJ beats; though it attracts a range of ages, "over-40s" say it's "probably the best place" in St. Lawrence Gap "to dance and not be called 'auntie' all night"; P.S. there's also "a surprising happy hour" with two-for-one house drinks 11 PM 1 AM nightly.

Roje's Bar & Restaurant
Worthing Main Rd.
Christ Church, Barbados

"Cosy booths" and "strong", "cheap" cocktails make this "centrally located" Christ Church sports bar "a nice place to hang out" whether or not you're into watching games; equipped with TVs inside and on the street-front verandah, it's fairly "typical" for the genre, but its on-site slot machines and 24/7 hours of operation help it stand out from the crowd.

"Fun-loving" "locals and tourists" "dance in the sand" to a "pumping" "mix of music" at this "open-air beachfront nightclub" in Bridgetown, where on most party nights, "drinks are free" with paid entry (and "strong" too, thanks to "fantastic" staff that make them); on Monday and Wednesday, the evening belongs to an "awesome" dinner show starring an "energetic" cast of fire-eaters, stilt-walkers, acrobats and more.

Club NXS
St. Lawrence Gap, Christ Church
Christ Church, Barbados

When it comes to nightlife, too much is never enough in St. Lawrence Gap hence the moniker of this new club (read: 'in excess') erected in a building long associated with after-dark revelry; there's no cover to sidle up to the bar in the front courtyard, but a fee is often required to dance inside or rock out to live bands performing on the large back patio, which also woos VIPs with private areas and bottle service.

"Hard-drinking crowds" have "fun, fun, fun" "dancing the night away to an excellent selection" of music (via both DJs and live acts) at this "lively" Bridgetown beach bar; even wallflowers admit that "quenching your thirst couldn't be sweeter" here, especially with the "great sunsets" over the "blue Caribbean"; N.B. cover charges sometimes apply.

"Olde Britain" lives on in the form of this St. Thomas tavern with a "suitable atmosphere": "dim lights, close quarters" and "cool bartenders who know how to get creative with drinks"; it's open 24 hours on weekends, so even "if you've been partying all night somewhere else, you can stumble" here, refuel with a pub-grub breakfast, play pool or darts in the game room or just veg out whilst watching sports on the big screens.

Ship Inn, The
St. Lawrence Gap
Christ Church, Barbados
420-7447

Some of the "hottest" local "up-and-coming singers and bands" are "bred" at this "solid" St. Lawrence Gap pub/entertainment venue, which offers "a wide variety of music" courtesy of "talented" musicians and DJs; "drinks cost a bit more", but that matters not to the "locals and tourists" who "always have a great time."

Lexy Piano Bar
Second St., Holetown
St. James, Barbados
432-5399
231919E
"Just what Barbados needed!" cheer those "addicted" to this relatively new Holetown piano bar's brand of "sophisticated" live entertainment, "great service" and "cocktails made with fresh ingredients" (they're "expensive" but "worth it"); indeed, a "night of fun" is guaranteed, so to the proprietor, a former Broadway singer, they offer a sincere "thanks, Alex."
