This fine, classically designed Barbadian house is home to Sir David and Lady Seale of R.L. Seale and Co., Ltd., who also own the nearby Foursquare Rum Distillery and its lovely Heritage Park. Expanded in modern times, the house is strikingly decorated and filled with antiques and local artwork. Prepare to stroll; the grounds are expansive and beautiful. Even the stables are impressive. So are their occupants; the Hopefield horses have won 7 Gold Cups!
Directions
Take the ABC highway south, passing Balls Plantation/Barbados Horticultural Society. Between Coverly development and the airport is a left turn to Charnocks. Follow that road into the countryside for about 1 km, then turn right at the junction and look for Open House signs.
The Barbados National Trust Open House Season, which has been a 'must do' on Barbados' events calendar since the 1960s, continues in 2019 with a showcase of some of Barbados' most historically interesting and architecturally magnificent private homes. In addition to 'lively talks', narrated by some of Barbados’ most well-known historians and architectural aficionados, the Open House Season 2019 will also feature live music, cultural performances by local schools, beautiful handmade Barbadian craft sold by artisans and many more enjoyable surprises!
