Measuring just 21 miles long and 14 miles wide, it’s never difficult to find a way to get around an island of this size. From public buses to taxicabs to car rentals, there’s a transportation option in Barbados suited to every preference and budget.
life lessons: driving tips
In Barbados, remember that you will be driving on the left side of the road. The island's narrow causeways, roundabouts and occasional blind corners make it a good idea to pay careful attention while driving here.
Visitors to the island are easily identifiable on the road by the "H" number plate. Locals are usually accommodating of your confusion with directions, roundabouts, road signs, etc. and make allowances. Authorized security personnel across the island are usually in uniform, so do not pay any one else who claims to be "security" to guard your vehicle.
Please be careful with your possessions and place them in the boot/trunk wherever possible and ensure that the vehicle is always locked when unattended.
