Our nursery will have plants, trees and herbs for sale, along with composting demonstrations from our sister organisation The Caribbean Permaculture Research Institute of Barbados. We'll also have honey from @walkers_apiary available for you to taste and purchase.
For our creative guests, sign-up for a writing workshop led by Alan Springer and explore nature through the written word. There'll be something for the entire family to enjoy, so come celebrate Earth Day with us this Saturday 23rd April 2022! For more information, please call or Whatsapp us at 250-9752.
For the last 50 years, Walker’s Quarry provided sand to the island of Barbados while managing to steward and protect one of the largest native beach-side forests on the island. Nearly every building in Barbados is constructed, in part, from Walker’s Quarry sand suspended in concrete. As Barbados’s building industry exhausts Walker’s sand supply, it is time to shift focus to regenerating the land back to health, and turning Walker’s Quarry into Walker’s Reserve. From active sand quarry to vibrant beach-side forest, Walkers is undergoing a powerful transformative journey. This journey is not only healing the landscape, but is also changing how we perceive our environment, culture, history and possibilities that the future holds.
