Tropical Garden located in the heart of St. George’s gorgeous countryside. The magnificently arranged garden is an alluring oasis, with a peaceful radiance that encapsulates the entirety of its six acres. Filled with vibrant tropical plants and flowers, the garden is landscaped strategically to create the ideal conditions necessary for the various species to thrive.
The garden is set on an elevated area of land, giving it a bird’s-eye view of the sugarcane fields stretched out below. A welcoming atmosphere greets you at the entrance gates, leading you into the enchanting space, with pops of vivid colour, the sweet calls of birds and gentle breezes rustling through the leaves. Traversing the garden’s winding path is a delightful experience, as it is lined with plants displayed in interestingly decorated pots. Adorable garden ornaments and statues add a touch of whimsical charm throughout the property. A variety of palm trees are scattered across the grounds, while brightly painted birdhouses hang from the branches of other trees, providing a welcoming resting place for the island’s winged visitors.
Several benches are thoughtfully placed throughout the garden, offering comfortable seating where visitors can pause and relax while taking in the surrounding beauty. Their positioning allows for optimal enjoyment of both the garden itself and the extended countryside views beyond.
It is fascinating to observe the different ways in which the tropical plants are cultivated. Some flourish in rich soil beds, while others grow gracefully along tree trunks or hang suspended in the air. Certain delicate plants are protected within wire lattice houses, shielding them from the elements while allowing them to thrive. The extensive array of colours is captivating — from crisp whites and soft yellows to fiery oranges, deep purples, vibrant pinks, rich reds and warm peach tones. Abstract patterns and varied textures create a visually striking landscape at every turn.
A gentle stream of water flows gracefully over a waterfall and into a shallow pool below, creating the soothing sounds of a tropical rainforest and adding to the garden’s tranquil atmosphere. In addition to the flora and fauna, visitors can enjoy a relaxing beverage on the lovely shaded deck, with its open yet cosy design. A well-stocked gift shop complements the experience by offering an interesting selection of keepsakes and souvenirs inspired by the garden’s splendour. The garden remains one of the most tranquil and magical places in Barbados, its unmatched beauty leaving a lasting impression on all who visit.
