It is hard to imagine that it was once a sugar plantation as it resembles nothing of the sort today - a true conversion! To say that the garden is expansive is an understatement. It covers a whopping 53 acres, all of which are covered in beautiful plants, trees and flowers for you to enjoy as you wander around the grounds, sometimes stopping to have a closer look at the interesting plants that can be seen or maybe even resting your feet on the benches scattered around. After all, 53 acres is quite a trek!

The Flower Forest can also be used for events, if planning the perfect destination wedding or maybe even for a great island party - this is a fantastic option! Nothing says ‘tropical island wedding’ like a garden party. The photos alone will tell the story of the magical experience.

The Forest Café, which is located on-site, serves traditional Barbadian dishes, giving a taste of the island. Local rums are also sold; after all, Barbados is the home of rum! They also provide meals that are suitable for kids, like hotdogs and hamburgers. There is something for everyone to consume at the café or to cool you down after a long hike.

There is also an in-house gift shop where locally made crafts can be purchased to take home as souvenirs in remembrance of one of the most beautiful places visited on the island. The gift shop not only sells crafts but a variety of gourmet foods like jams and sauces to tickle the palette in true Caribbean style.

Access to the Flower Forest is affordable with a mere local $30 for entry for adults and half price for children between the ages of 4-12. In fact, children under the age of four are free of cost! The opening hours are from 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM every day of the week. The only time it is closed is for bank holidays such as Christmas Day and Good Friday, which makes a visit extremely convenient.

All it takes to visit the Flower Forest is a cool drive through the countryside if you are so inclined. If you are not, many hotels organize day trips to the forest. This is an option that can be used if driving through the country alone is not preferable to you. Either way, you should make it a priority to pay a visit to this magical place!
