Mindful Movement

Mindful Movement was founded by Jasmine Evelyn in 2015. A registered yoga teacher and physiotherapist eager to extend a message of mindfulness to students and patients. Offering outdoor yoga, studio and private yoga classes in Barbados - here there is something for everyone:

  • Barre fitness classes - a technique that incorporates the movements of classical ballet with a yoga mat work out. Notably, Barre sessions are one on one only.
  • Also on offer are pelvic health and physiotherapy sessions to raise awareness of health issues, showing how pelvic health can be restored through pelvic physiotherapy. Offering Hatha vinyasa - a breath-synchronized movement combining poses with meditation, these classes usually occur on Saturdays from 10 - 11 am as a mixed level practice. For beginners there is a class on Saturdays 11:30 am -12:30 am providing a safe alignment-based approach, focusing on mindfulness and self-awareness.
  • Agni Flow is also offered - a practice designed to draw on the body’s internal heat and build strength and stability through dynamic and powerful flows. Based in Christ Church Barbados, she can be contacted at [email protected]. Studio classes are $25 (drop-in) or $120 for 6 sessions.

Yoga Samudra

In Sanskrit, Yoga Samudra translates to yoga by the sea, and this idyllic spa in Barbados is perfect for rejuvenating your mind, body and spirit. For those who enjoy a natural experience, outdoor drop-in sessions are only 20 USD. However, some sessions are also available online, which means you can even practice from the comfort of your home. Yoga Samudra studio classes are also available via their progressive App. Allowing those who so choose, to download their free app and join in on sessions from wherever they are. As with most things, it is better to book in advance so the coordinator can inform of any changes or updates.

The practitioner Jen began the yoga movement after relocating to Barbados and discovering a real need for the product on the island, at the time.  Today the studio is a favourite - well-known by residents and visitors. The flows offered at the studio include Vinyasa Flow and Restorative Bliss, taking place at the well known St. Lawrence Gap’s Castaways, in the morning with a gorgeous view of the ocean.
